A gunman has shot dead three people with a third seriously injured at the Jewish Museum in the Belgian capital.

A man drew up to the entrance to the museum in an Audi at around 15:50 (13:50 GMT), before getting out out and firing at those nearby, and then speeding away.

Police have reportedly arrested one man over the incident and are hunting a second, who is believed to have fled on foot.

Security at Jewish sites across Belgium have been tightened as a precaution against further anti-Semitic attacks.

Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo said that the Belgian people were “united and show solidarity in the face of this odious attack on a Jewish cultural site”.
