Brazilian presidential candidate Eduardo Campos has died after his plane crashed in a residential area of the city of Santos in south eastern Brazil.
Fire fighters said that there were 10 “victims” of the crash, but it is unclear whether that numbers was those injured or killed.
Campos’ death was confirmed by members of his party, Partido Socialista Brasileiro (PSB).
Air traffic controllers lost contact with the Cessna 560XL after it could not land at Guaruja, near Santos, and the plane crashed at around 10:00 local time (13:00 GMT) with four people on board.
Campos, 49, had been polling third in the run up to the elections in October, and was campaigning on a platform of modernisation and economic stability.
