The UK may be facing the possibility of a triple-dip recession, and austerity measures and cuts until 2018 after Osborne’s Autumn Statement, but unemployment continues to fall.

According to the latest numbers from the Office of National Statistics unemployment fell to 7.8% between August and October, a 0.2% decrease on the previous three months. That is 40,000 more people in employment compared to May-July, and 499,000 more people in employment compared to the previous year.

There are now 2.51 million unemployed in the UK in total, with 1.58 million claiming Jobseeker’s allowance according to the statistics.

Total pay, including bonuses, also rose 1.8% when compared to the previous 12 months.
