Radio DJ and personality Neil Fox has been arrested over claims of historical sex offences.

The 53-year-old, that goes by the name “Dr Fox”, was arrested at the Magic FM studios in central London in relation to three historical allegations of sex offences and one from earlier this year.

Bauer Media, which owns Magic FM, has confirmed that Fox has been arrested and that he will not be presenting his regular morning show on Wednesday.

Police have confirmed that the former Pop Idol judge was arrested over the allegations, and that they had also searched properties in Chelsea and Littlehampton, West Sussex, in connection with the allegations.

Fox has since been released on bail until December.

The radio host’s arrest is not part of Operation Yewtree, the high-profile sex crime investigation set up in the wake of the Jimmy Savile scandal.

Fox began his career in radio presenting a show called Mellow Yellow on Radio Wyvern (now Free Radio Herefordshire & Worcestershire) in 1984, before joining Radio Luxembourg in 1987 and then Capital Radio later the same year.

The DJ adopted the moniker “Dr Fox” in the mid-1990s when he presented a late night show targeting the club crowd called “Dr Fox’s Midnight Surgery”. After more than a decade with Capital FM, Fox went on to joined Magic 105.4 in 2005.
