South Yorkshire Police have been accused of ignoring and actively obstructing investigations into the abuse of children in Rotherham by two victims.
Speaking to BBC Inside Out, one victim claimed that the police called her a liar after reporting her abuse when she was 15, and a second victim claims the police prevented her from seeking a medical examination after being abused at the age of 13.
South Yorkshire Police said that both cases, which occurred eight years apart, have been referred to the police watchdog, the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).
The two women, whose real names have not been released, are part of a group of 32 victims preparing to sue South Yorkshire Police and Rotherham Council over the abuse.
In September, a report by Prof Alexis Jay was published, which found that 1,400 children had been abused in Rotherham between 1997 and 2013, with authorities turning a blind eye to the scandal.
