Gloucestershire Police have released shocking CCTV footage of an unprovoked assault in Gloucester in the hopes of finding the attacker.
At around 04:15 on the morning of the 10 January, a 60-year-old man was walking in Kings Walk when a young man approached him, presumably to ask him a question. However, for apparently no reason, the young man punched the older man in the face, knocking him unconscious.
A third person, who can be seen in the video watching the attack, fled the scene with the attacker.
The victim suffered serious facial injuries and a head wound that required eight staples.
Gloucestershire Police have asked for any witnesses to the assault to come forward, and have released the video of the attack in full in the hope that someone will be able to identify the attacker, who was described as “white, in his twenties, wearing a blue hoody, light trousers and trainers with a white sole. He is carrying a black coat or jacket”.
Anyone with information has been asked to contact police by calling 101 quoting Incident Number 74 of 10th January 2015.
