Former television weatherman Fred Talbot has appeared in court over historic sex offence allegations relating to between 1968 and 1983 when he was a teacher.
Talbot, 64, who found fame on the floating UK weather map for ITV’s This Morning programme, has been charged with one count of buggery and nine of indecent assault.
The allegations have been made by five men, three of whom were under the age of 16 when the alleged incidents occurred, with one victim attending a school in Newcastle at the time, and the others all former pupils at Altrincham Grammar School for Boys.
The case was committed to Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court, with the preliminary hearing set for 4th March.
Talbot has been granted bail until the hearing on the conditions that he has no unsupervised contact with children, and does not contact witnesses or the alleged victims.
