Five men have been jailed, with sentences of up to seven years, for the 2015 Hatton Garden safety deposit box raid.

John “Kenny” Collins, 75, Daniel Jones, 61, and Terry Perkins, 67, all received seven year sentences for their roles as “ringleaders” of the gang.

Carl Wood, 59, and William Lincoln, 60, received six and seven year jail terms respectively for their actions during the burglary that the presiding Judge Christopher Kinch QC described as in “a class of its own”.

76-year-old Brian Reader, who is considered to have masterminded the operation, will be sentenced at a later date as he was too ill to attend the hearing after suffering a second strike.

The gang broke into the vault at Hatton Garden Safe Deposit in central London over the 2015 Easter weekend, and stole jewellery and other goods worth an estimated £14 million, making the eist one of the biggest in British history.
