Cult 1990s television show Twin Peaks is set to return to the small screen in 2016, in a series set 25 years after the events of the second series.

Director David Lynch will return for the new series and made the announcement on Twitter, with a video and the words:
“It’s happening again”

Twin Peaks became one of the top-rated shows of 1990 and was a critical success both nationally and internationally, capturing a large and devoted fan base for its mixture of murder mystery and strange soap opera. The series became a part of popular culture that has been referenced in television shows, commercials, comic books, video games, films and song lyrics, and the second series was followed by the 1992 feature film, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, which serves as both a prequel and an epilogue to the television series
