Channel 4 is to broadcast footage of the 2001 terrorist attack on World Trade Centre towers in New York recorded from the International Space Station (ISS) as part of a new documentary.

The film was recorded by astronaut Frank Culbertson, only hours before he found out that his friend Chic Burlingame was one of the pilots killed in the attacks when his airliner was hijacked by terrorists.

The documentary is part of the Live from Space season on Channel 4, which includes other films about astronauts and the space programme. The season will culminate in a two-and-a-half-hour live stream from the ISS and NASA Mission Control in Houston, Texas, which will feature the view of Earth from the ISS for its entire 92-minute orbit.
