The Met Office has issued amber and yellow warnings from tonight into Thursday as a ‘weather bomb’ hits landfall in northern Scotland and Wales.

A deep low pressure system, known as a rapid cyclogenesis or ‘weather bomb’ is moving slowly eastwards between the north of Britain and Iceland.

Gale-force winds are expected to reach UK shores in Northern Ireland, western Scotland, and north Wales on Tuesday evening, with the Met Office warning of winds of up to 80mph and “exceptionally high waves” on Wednesday.
