Fans of the Mortal Kombat game franchise have been gushing with excitement over the trailer for the upcoming Mortal Kombat X released by series co-creator Ed Boon.

Following the release of the trailer and update of the official website to include pre-order links, the game quickly started trending on Twitter as fans of the series started discussing what they hoped from the game, which is due for release in 2015.

The trailer features two of the game’s most famous characters, Scorpion and Sub-Zero, battling in a forest soundtracked by a song Wiz Khalifa wrote specifically for the game called “Can’t Be Stopped”.

Mortal Kombat X is reported to be powered by “next-gen technology” and will be available on Xbox One, Playstation 4, Xbox 360 and PS3
