A official e-petition asking the government to create Muslim and Hindu bank holidays has reached 119,000 signatures, meaning that the proposal must be discussed in Parliament under rules established in 2011.
The petition, started by Jo Timmis, calls for the government to make Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights, and Eid, the Muslim festival at the end of Ramadan, official British bank holidays.
Timmis says:
I believe that given the number of Muslims and Hindu’s in this country it is only fair that we allow them to have the most important days in their faiths recognised in law.
By giving them public/bank holidays for these days we would be going some way to help to recognise the importance of these faiths to many within the country.

WTF! Do you think they would allow Christian bank holidays in muslin countries? No they wouldn’t, in fact there would probably be all out war even if it was suggested in the likes of Pakistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia etc, etc. Next there will be a petition asking for all women in the UK to wear burkkas , you may laugh at that but that’s what will happen. These people want stop there either. The future looks frightening ‘cos muslins are on a mission to turn the world to Islam.
I will assume that your post is a wind up Paul, because it is rarely the Muslim, Hindu or Eastern Bloc Catholic communities making these theocratic requests … it is your run-of-the-mill affluent whites with far to much time and money coming up with this dross.
We are supposed to be living in a secular state … yet large sums of tax payers money still fund the church, money which would be much better spent on science, charities and education.
The sooner we leave our beliefs at home instead of forcing them onto others, the sooner we will have social cohesion.
