Gunmen have shot a prominent Pakistan television personality after a dramatic car chase on the streets of Karachi.
Hamid Mir of Geo TV was tailed from the airport in his car by unidentified men in a car and on motorcycles, before they opened fire and shot him three times.
The wounds to his stomach and legs were not life-threatening and Mir is reported to be in a stable condition after the attack.
Mir’s brother, leading investigative journalist Amir Mir, has blamed Pakistan’s intelligence and security agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) for orchestrating the attack for his political views, according to the BBC.
Pakistan remains one of the most dangerous countries in the world for journalists, with over 50 reporters killed there over the past two decades according to the CPJ.
