A Southwest Airlines flight was forced to divert after a “crazed” passenger attempted to open the plane’s hatch mid-air.

The flight from Chicago to Sacramento was diverted to Nebraska after a male passenger tried to pry open the cabin door mid-flight.

Passenger Monique Lawler told KABC:

“Some gentleman just decided that he wanted us to visit the Lord today, and decided to open up the back hatch of Southwest Airlines flight while we were already up in the air”

One of the air stewards called for help, and a large male passenger was able to subdue the man before he was able to do any major damage, and restrain him until the plane landed.

The plane was met at Eppley Airfield in Nabraska with TSSA agents who escorted the man from the aircraft.

It is currently unknown of drugs or alcohol were involved in the man’s erratic and dangerous behaviour.
