A 13-year-old boy hanged himself after mistakenly running up a £420 bill for downloading Xbox games online, a coroner has heard.

Henry Tattersall was upset after his mother confronted him about the charges on her credit card and told him that he would not get any Christmas presents according to the Rossendale Free Press.

The boy then sent his girlfriend a Facebook message telling her that he was going to kill himself, before hanging himself on 25th November 2013.

He was discovered hanging by his older sister, who attempted to resuscitate him, but he died shortly after arriving at the Royal Blackburn Hospital.

In delivering his verdict at Burnley Coroners Court, Richard Taylor said that he thought Tattersall’s actions were a cry for help and he did not mean to kill himself as he left his door open.
