Controversial US rap group Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All, often abbreviated to OFWGKTA or simply Odd Future, have been banned from entering New Zealand.
The hip-hop collective were due to play the Rapture festival in Auckland this weekend, but immigration bosses revoked their entry visas on the basis that there was reason to believe that the group “is, or is likely to be, a threat or risk to public order or the public interest”.
The group have been the centre of continued controversy about their lyrics being homophobic, although the band deny this and have publicly supported one member of the group, Syd Tha Kyd, coming out.
Tyler, The Creator from the group vented his disappointment in New Zealand’s decision on Twitter, saying:
OF IS BANNED FROM NEW ZEALAND, AGAIN. THEY SAID WE WERE 'TERRORIST THREATS AND BAD FOR THE SOCIETY' OR WHATEVER. SICK. THEY ARE ANTI GOLF
