Five people have been rushed to hospital with five more treated by paramedics at the scene after a gas explosion flattened two houses in Clacton, Essex.
Emergency services were called to Cloes Lane, Clacton, after two semi-detached properties were flattened and another badly damaged by the blast at 08:30.
Four fire engines attended the scene, where a gas-fuelled fire was allowed to burn under control after all people had been accounted for.
Five ambulances, two air ambulances, and a paramedic rapid response car were also on the scene to help the victims, and rush the five badly injured to Colchester general hospital and Broomfield hospital
Neighbours helped pull victims from the rubble according to the local Clacton Gazette after they heard an explosion whith one resident describing the inceident to Sky News, saying:
“We heard this almighty bang and literally everything shook in the house. All the neighbours just came running out their houses.
It was almost like a bomb going off”
