Comedian Jimmy Carr is reported to be paying HMRC £500,000 after quitting a controversial and “immoral” offshore tax-avoidance scheme.

The television presenter was one of a number of celebrities exposed last year for taking part in the legal K2 scheme, which cut his tax bill to just one percent by basing it in Jersey.

The comic has publicly apologised for using the scheme, which he admits was “morally wrong”, and is now paying full corporation tax of 23% in the UK for his company FN Good Ltd.
