A woman rescued from a house fire in Brackla, Bridgend says that it was her cat that saved her life.
Tracie Horgan-Hodgkiss, 39, was awoken in the early hours of the morning after her two-year-old tortoiseshell cat Taffy bit her hand to find her home filled with choking black smoke.
She said that she ignored the fire alarm, thinking it was her alarm clock, but the quick nip from her cat roused her from her sleep and meant she was able to dial 999 and survive the fire which could have claimed her life.
She was taken to hospital for smoke inhalation, but has since been reunited with her life-saving pet.
A 39-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson.
