The Met Office has issued an amber alert warning for Monday, with stormy weather possibly leading to flooding.

“Hurricane force” winds of up to 130km/h are expected to hit southern parts of the UK on Monday, with warnings that people should prepare for the risk of falling trees and damages to buildings from the high winds.

The highest winds are expected in Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Hampshire, West Sussed, East Sussex, and Kent.

A lower level yellow warning has also been issued for strong winds and heavy rain for most of the UK for Monday, with the storm likely to be the worst the country has seen this year.
