Four men have been arrested in counter-terrorism raids across London by Scotland Yard in a joint operation with with MI5.
The dramatic raids were coordinated, with three locations targeted across east, west, and south London at around 19:00 on Sunday. Two men were arrested close to Tower Bridge as they walked down the street, with another in Westbourne Grove, Notting Hill, and fourth in Peckham.
Armed officers from firearms unit CO19 were involved in the raids, although no shots were fired, with the men arrested under suspicion of instigating acts of terrorism under the Terrorism Act 2000 (Section 41- 1B).
Police have not released many details of the raid, but six addresses are believed to have been searched after the arrests under powers from the Terrorism Act.
The four men are now being held at Southwark police station.
