A car bomb has exploded in southern Damascus killing and wounding several people according to reports. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that the blast had killed at least seven people and wounded 15, some critically.
The al-Qaeda-linked ISIS group has claimed responsibility for the attack, saying that one of their militants detonated the bomb at on Nazreen Street in the Al-Tadamon area of Damascus – a battle ground between Assad’s forces and the rebels for months. Al-Tadamon is largely rebel controlled, but the blast occurred at one of the remaining Assad strongholds.

Syrian State TV blamed the blast on “terrorists”, the same word with which they describe every group of rebels.
The UN General Assembly are meeting later today to discuss the ongoing situation in Syria and the progress of the plan to dismantle Assad’s chemical weapons arsenal.
