Children’s entertainer Rolf Harris has been re-arrested as part of Operation Yewtree over further allegations of sexual offences.
Harris was first arrested in March as part of Operation Yewtree, which was set up after the flurry of allegations made against Jimmy Savile following his death in 2011.
The Met police refer to Harris as “Yewtree 5”, and have not formally named the 83 year old in their inquiries.
There are three strands to the Operation Yewtree investigations: the accusation directly against Savile, the accusation related to those against Savile; and those unrelated to Savile that were raised after the publicity surrounding his death. The investigations against Harris are reportedly part of this third strand.
