A man has died after being found on fire outside Kensington Palace, the London home of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 03:06 on Tuesday morning, but paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.

Police officers stationed with the Royal household first to respond. They put out the flames with a fire extinguisher and attempted first aid on the man, reported to be in his forties.

London Ambulance service pronounced the man dead at 03:42.

The Met Police said they had been contacted by a London hospital shortly after midnight after a patient failed to return. The incident is not being treated as terror-related.
