Two emergencies were declared aboard flights in and out of Newcastle Airport this morning.

Meanwhile, an emergency was also declared on Jet2 flight LS509 from Newcastle to Prague as plane plane flew over the waters off East Anglia. The plane was forced to divert to Leeds Bradford Airport, where it landed safely at 11.25.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said that the Jet2 plane was diverted due to “engine trouble”.
A Jet2 spokesperson said:
“The aircraft has landed safely and customers will be transferred to an alternative aircraft so they can continue their journey to Prague as soon as possible.
“We apologise to our customers for the delay to the start of their holiday but their safety is of paramount importance to us.”
Elsewhere, Thomas Cook flight TCX109 enroute to Manchester from Montego Bay, Jamaica, was diverted to land Gander Airport, Canada.
