Former pop star Gary Glitter has been found guilty of historical sex offences against young girls, including attempted rape.

Glitter, 70, whose real name is Paul Gadd, has been convicted of attempted rape, four counts of indecent assault, and one count of sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 13 between 1975 and 1980. He was acquitted on three other counts.

During the trial, the jury heard how Glitter attempted to rape a 10-year-old girl in 1975, and plied a different 12-year-old girl with champagne before having sex with her.

He will be sentenced at 09:30 on 27 February.
