UKIP has been condemned for victims of exploiting child abuse for political gain in its poster campaign in South Yorkshire.

UKIP launched the poster as part of its “1,400 reason to vote” campaign in Rotherham, which blames Labour for ignoring the scale of the child abuse going on in the region between 1997 and 2013 where 1,400 children were abused.

UKIP MEP Jane Collins said:

“These posters are certainly hard hitting, but they bring home a simple truth, a truth that is spoken in far harsher terms than this in the shops, bars, and clubs across the region. You just cannot trust Labour to do its duty. Jack Clarkson will be a force to be reckoned with in bringing the communities together and rebuilding the trust so desperately needed between our police and our citizens.”

However, many people have condemned the poster as “vile” and “exploitative”:

Nigel Farage’s party have said that they plan to use the poster across South Yorkshire in the run up to the Police and Crime Commissioner By-Election on 30 October.

The LABOUR PARTY and the EU, with their tool political correctness, are responsible for creating this political mess. The Labour Party wants to bury its head in the sand and pretend it never happened. What is Labour doing for these victims – NOTHING! It’s still on-going – again Labour is doing NOTHING. Children will never be safe while Labour are in control. Oh Labour are very quick to get a petition together to suspend Mike Read from the BBC because of a song he sang and they are very quick to make a great big fuss about it, but when it comes to something as serious and as vile as Rotherham, Labour backs away; don’t want to mention it. They might be considered racist if they did, but they’re quite happy to criticise UKIP for the work they’re doing to bring justice for the victims – BECAUSE LABOUR WILL NEVER DO IT. If this isn’t political, what is?

The Labour party politicised this, when they wilfully turned a blind eye to it in order to maintain their core votes in the district. Hiding these despicable acts and ignoring these children’s plights, just to keep the status quo is as much an act of politicising that they now accuse UKIP of. Perspective please people, this is still going on and much more is being uncovered on a daily basis. Don’t try to make this UKIP’s fault by attempting to deflect the issue away from the real problem

  3. This is obviously a great advert kicking the left in the b***s. Hence their outrage. Well Done!

if they want I could sell them a few blinkers.

The fact that reports of sexual assault are not taken seriously by the authorities is a far too big an issue to simply pin on the Labour Party. A lot of institutions, including the BBC and the Conservative Party, have ignored women when they report sexual harassment. The fallacy in all of this is to believe that UKIP are going to do anything to remedy this issue, which is really one of women’s rights and not of race or immigration. UKIP are interested in exploitation tensions in race relations in these communities. They’re mobilising the perfectly justifiable anger and disgust of local people at these abuses to fan the fires of racial hatred. That’s all, pure and simple. The people of South Yorkshire must resist being conned into handing this election to UKIP, a party that has nothing in common with their values and merely seeks to exploit their outrage. They mustn’t hand any power to an unashamedly Thatcherite party.

  7. Hi,
The British Labour party is a relic of time gone by, born as a consequence of the crystallization of British politics between right and left. Things have changed the up and downs, in and outs, chromosomal aberration all want to have a say. The marbles playing party may win the next election.
