Tory MP for Shrewsbury and Atcham, Daniel Kawczynski, told a one-legged drug addict in a wheelchair to “get a job” when asked if he could share some change outside Westminster tube station in London on 7th October.

Kawczynski’s comments left Mark McGuigan feeling “small and humiliated” as he continued:

“Find some work. Yes, I know it is hard, I have struggled too.”

Kawczynski claims he was trying to help the man by urging him to find work through a government scheme, although McGuigan contends that he is unable to find work with his disability and difficulties in literacy and numeracy.

Kawczynski attended the independent St George’s College, Weybridge for his schooling before heading to the University of Sterling, and is a strong supporter of welfare reform and promotes the idea of a “Christian society”.
