A new elephant park has been opened to visitors at a Swiss zoo, which includes an elephant-sized aquarium.

Elephants at Zurich Zoo’s Kaeng Krachan have a roaming area of 11,000 square metres with six water basins, including one that has a transparent glass wall so visitors can see the elephants swimming below the water as if at an aquarium.

The £50 million facility is named after the Kaeng Krachan national elephant park in Thailand, where Zurich Zoo supports a project to protect Asian elephants.
