A week ago, a girl called Caitlin Heller put a video up on YouTube that showed her attempt at making a “sexy twerk video” for her boyfriend – an attempt that ended in disaster when she fell onto a table and the candles set her “yoga pants” on fire.
The video quickly went viral around the world notching up over 9 million views, with a number of mainstream news outlets showing the video and requesting interviews with Heller.
Except the video was a fake put together for the Jimmy Kimmel Live talk show in the US and stunt woman Daphne Avalon to demonstrate just how far “news” outlets have evolved into gossip sites, and doing nothing to verify anything in the story with many referring to the video as an “epic twerking fail”. Whoops.
