A 24-year-old cat called Poppy, believed to be the oldest in the world, has died.

The feline was born in February 1990, and was officially recognised last month as the oldest living cat at 24 years old, which is 114 human years.

In her lifetime, Poppy, from Bournemouth in Dorset, would have seen the reunification of Germany, two Iraq wars, Nelson Mandela being released from prison, and five British prime ministers.
