The Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights are normally only seen in Scandinavia and the most northern parts of the world, but last night people reported seeing them as far south as the Channel Islands.
For many living outside the light pollution of cities and towns, especially those in Scotland and Wales, the sky lit up with a beautiful red and green colour show.
The time-lapse footage above was filmed from the top of the Great Orme in Llandudno, North Wales by Matthew Syddall.
Northeast1 recorded the Northern lights over the villages of Banff and Macduff on the northeast coast of Scotland:
Paul Wordingham captured the green skies above Armadale, Sutherland in Scotland
