Many improbable theories have been aired by news networks such as CNN about the reason for the disappearance of flight MH370, but in the most unlikely story, former US Vice President nominee Sarah Palin is reported to have told a Fox News reporter that the plane had gone “straight to heaven”.

Sarah Palin made a name for herself with a lack of awareness of basic issues during her run for vice president, and the story which comes from satirical news site the Daily Currant somehow got picked up by people hoping that this was her latest gaff.

In the story, Palin is reported to have told Fox News host Sean Hannity:

“I don’t hear anyone talking about the God possibility. I mean what if they accidentally flew too high and got stuck in heaven?

I’m no expert on international aviation. But I do know that God is up there looking down on us. And everyone knows that once you go to heaven you can’t come back. This would explain why we haven’t found any wreckage in the ocean and why no one saw the plane land.”

The fact that many have taken this story to be true says a lot about Sarah Palin’s reputation in certain circles, but in this case the Daily Currant should be taken at the word that their “stories are purely fictional”.
