One of Britain’s most notorious criminals reportedly greased himself up with butter before taking on 12 prison guards in a fight after Arsenal won the FA Cup.

According to the Mirror, Charles Bronson, 61, “lost it” at Full Sutton jail in Yorkshire when Arsenal won the trophy.

In a letter to his friend Kate Kray, the ex-wife of infamous gangster Ronnie Kray, he explained that he had been in “another rumble” and that he covered himself in Lurpack to make it more difficult for the guards to restrain him.

He claimed he saw a vision of Ronnie Kray who told him:

“Go on son, let ’em have it!”

Bronson was first jailed for seven years in 1974 for armed robbery, and convictions for a string of violent crimes since then has seen him spend more time behind bars.

His notoriously life of crime was portrayed in the film Bronson, where his character was played by Tom Hardy.
