A lorry carrying a giant octopus broke down in central London, causing traffic chaos in the capital.
Transport for London warned users to keep their distance from the fake animal that blocked the road at Oxford Circus, saying:
A lorry carrying an octopus has broken down at Oxford Circus. Approach with care.
Betfair eventually owned up that the octopus was a prop used in one of their recent adverts, saying on Twitter:
“We’d like to apologise for any inconvenience that has been caused by the breakdown this morning at Oxford Circus. While transporting a prop which was used in a recent advertising campaign, unfortunately our truck broke down on its way to a holding location”
However, that did not stop a number of confused Londoners and amused members of the media taking photos of the octopus, which many thought looked like Paul, the octopus that successfully predicted a number of results during the last World Cup.
