Mark Lilley, one of the UK’s most wanted fugitives who fled the UK in 2000, was found naked by police in a panic room in his luxury villa in Spain.
After 13 years on the run, drug baron Mark Alan Lilley was found hiding in a panic room behind a wardrobe in his villa in Alhaurín de la Torre, near Málaga, in a dawn raid on Saturday. The fugitive, known as “fatboy”, had skipped bail in the UK after police found £1.2 million worth of drugs at his homes in the UK, and was sentenced to 23 years in jail in his absence. 40 armed Spanish officers raised his home in a joint operation with the UK’s Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA).
Lilley was on a Crimestoppers list of “most wanted fugitives” and had his claim of an appeal from abroad thrown out after he attempted to get his conviction overturned by calling his legal team from abroad.
