The most tattooed man in Britain has had his passport application turned down after changing his name to”King of Ink Land King Body Art The Extreme Ink-Ite”.

The Birmingham man, 34, who has spent nearly £30,000 on tattoos covering 90% of his body, was born Mathew Whelan but is now known as “Body Art” for short after he changed his name by deed poll four years ago.

His Body Art name already appears on his driving license, but he was surprised to find that the Passport Office want to to go by the name he was born with and called his new name inappropriate.

Body Art has issued a complaint and is awaiting a response.
