The television advert for Scotland’s favourite soft drink Irn Bru with a mother in a push-up bra caused 176 people to complain to the Advertising Standard Agency (ASA).

Most of the complaints made out that the advert was sexist and demeaning to women, but the ASA found that whilst it was “distasteful” it was unlikely “to cause serious or widespread offence” clearing the advert to continue airing on television.
