A woman and her boyfriend have been arrested after the bruised body of her mother was discovered in a suitcase outside exclusive Bali hotel.
The half-naked body of 62-year-old Sheila von Wiese Mack was discovered on Tuesday in a suitcase in the boot of a taxi outside the five-star St Regis hotel in the Nusa Dua resort area of the Indonesian island province.
Police chief Djoko Hari Utomo said that she had been staying at the hotel along with her 19-year-old daughter Heather, and her daughter’s 21-year-old boyfriend Tommy Schaefer joined the pair at the hotel on Monday.
CCTV shows Mack arguing with her daughter’s boyfriend in the hotel lobby on Monday night, and when they were checking out on Tuesday, the young couple sent a number of suitcases down to a waiting taxi, allegedly including the one containing Mack’s body.
The body was discovered when the pair failed to show up at the taxi, where their luggage was waiting.
The duo were seen leaving the hotel through a back entrance and after a police hunt, they were arrested on suspicion of murder at a hotel in the Legian area of the island.
