Three people have been killed and more than twenty injured in a lightning strike on a beach in Argentina.
A sudden storm with a “great movement of ascending air and water and lots of electrical activity” descended on Villa Gesell on the eastern coast of Argentina on Thursday afternoon according to Argentina’s National Weather Service.
A lifeguard who witnessed the lightning bolt and its aftermath described the situation to TV reporters, saying:
“Some people had pain in their feet, some people were in convulsions and some were under cardiac arrest.”
16 adults and six children were taken to a local hospital for their injuries.
