Former England striker Ian Wright has flown home from his role commentating on the football World Cup in Brazil after his family were robbed at knife-point by burglars in north-west London.

Four men forced their way into Wright’s home at around 21:20 BST on Wednesday night, before threatening the 50-year-old footballer’s wife and children and making off with a number of personal possessions.

The Met Police have described the suspects as four black men aged between 18 and 25 with London accents and wearing hoodies to hide their faces.

A spokesperson for Wright has said that his wife, Nancy, is really shaken up by the “terrifying ordeal”, but no-one was physically harmed in the attack.
