Police are hunting a terror suspect who changed into a burka at a mosque and then disappeared on Friday afternoon.

Mohammed Ahmed Mohamed, 27, was last seen in Acton, west London, with CCTV capturing him leaving the scene with his face totally covered. He was subject to an order restricting his movements, but police currently have little idea as to his whereabouts after 15:15 on Friday.

Police have warned the public not to approach Mohamed, and ports and airports have been notified and put on alert to prevent him fleeing the country, describing Mohamed as around 1.72m tall, medium build, and of Somali origin.

Security Minister James Brokenshire said:

National security is the Government’s top priority and the police are doing everything in their power to apprehend this man as quickly as possible.

The police and security services do not believe that this man poses a direct threat to the public in the UK.

“The Home Secretary, on police advice, yesterday applied to the High Court for an order protecting anonymity to be lifted in order to assist with their investigation.

Home Secretary Theresa May will make a statement in the Commons at 15:30 GMT
