Police have praised a pet parrot as a hero, after he swooped in to rescue its owner who was being assaulted in a London park.
An unnamed victim had been grabbed and pushed to the ground by an assailant at around 12:30 BST last Friday in Sunny Hill Park, Hendon, when her African Grey parrot flew in and scared off the would-be attacker.
The parrot, named Wunsy, flew towards the attacker, squawking loudly and flapping its wings, causing the man to flee the scene in panic.
Despite Wunsy saving the day, the police are keen to find the attacker described as a white male aged between 25 and 35 with short blonde hair, who was wearing beige trousers and a dark black rucksack.
Police are asking anyone with information to call police on 101 quoting reference 2407517/14 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
