Former celebrity publicist Max Clifford has lost his appeal to reduce the length of his eight-year sentence for sex offences.

Clifford’s lawyer had argued that the sentence was unfair, but Lord Justice Treacy, Mr Justice Turner, and Judge Michael Pert disagreed and ruled the sentence to be “just and proportionate” at the Court of Appeal.

Clifford, 71, was jailed in April after being found guilty of eight historical indecent assaults on women and girls as young as 15.

Clifford’s conviction was the result of an investigation stemming from Operation Yewtree, set up by the Metropolitan Police in the wake of the Jimmy Savile scandals. The former publicist to the stars was the first person convicted as a result of the operation.
