Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man on a street in west London on Tuesday evening, in what appears to be a targeted attack.

A 38-year-old man was found shot dead on Vine Lane in Uxbridge, west London shortly at 18:59 on Tuesday, after witnesses reported hearing a number of gunshots.

The victim is believed to have been sitting inside his car on the driveway of a property on Vine Lane, when he was approached by a single gunman. The suspect fired a number of shots into the vehicle before fleeing the scene on foot.

The gunman was last seen running away from the scene along St Andrews Road towards Saunders Road.

Officers and London’s Air Ambulance attended the scene, but could not save the victim and pronounced him dead on the scene at 19:56.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said no arrests have been made and enquires are ongoing. A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.
