A father has died after drinking from a bottle of liquid crystal meth that he believed was fruit juice.
Romano Dias, 55, died from an overdose soon after taking a gulp from a glass of liquid crystal meth poured for him by his daughter at his home in Cambridge.
An investigation found the bottle to contain liquid methamphetamine with a street value of around £34,000.
The bottle was reportedly delivered to Dias’ daughter’s address in London as part of a package, but as it was not addressed to he she did not open the package for six months. After no-one came to collect the package, she opened it to find the bottle, which she then gave to her father three years later.
Crystal meth is a class A drug, but it is not widely used in the UK. However, the drug has recently found fame after the success of Breaking Bad, a US television show about a chemistry teacher turned crystal meth chemist.
