Police detectives investigating allegations of historical sexual offences as part of Operation Yewtree have arrested comedian Freddie Starr for the fourth time.
Starr, 70, was first questioned in November 2012, but has always maintained his innocence, and his lawyer has said that after this fourth arrest he will now file a High Court application for a judicial review of the conduct of the police investigating him.
The comedian has now been bailed until April, after the police missed a self-set deadline for charging or freeing him.
Operation Yewtree is an investigation into allegations of historical sexual abuse linked to the entertainment industry that was launched after revelations about abuse by Jimmy Savile over a number of decades. The inquiry looks into allegations about Savile, allegations linked to Savile and others, and allegations about others in the entertainment industry that have arisen as a result of the publicity surrounding the Savile revelations.
