There appears to be little love lost between Charles Saatchi and Nigella Lawson, with Saatchi describing his ex-wife as “off her head on drugs” during court proceedings.

Two former personal assistants are currently are to face trial for allegedly committing fraud whilst working for the celebrity couple during their marriage. Lawyers for Francesca and Elisabetta Grillo said that the television chef abused cocaine, cannabis and prescription drugs.

Backing up these claims was an email from Saatchi to Lawson read out before the trial by Judge Robin Johnson at Isleworth crown court, where Saatchi said:

“Of course now the Grillos will get off on the basis that you (and) Mimi were so off your heads on drugs that you allowed the sisters to spend whatever they liked and yes I believe every word they have said”

The trial is expected to last two weeks.
