Bristol has been named the best city to live in Britain according to the Sunday Times.

The city was awarded the accolade for its “great shopping, great scenery and great social scene” according to the Sunday newspaper, which previously named Skipton, North Yorkshire, as the best non-urban place to live in the country.

Bristol’s “buzzy culture” and nightlife, with a music scene that produced Massive Attack and Portishead amongst other high profile bands in recent years, were also praised, along with the city’s schools, and “varied and beautiful housing stock”.
